OIT STRATEGIC ROADMAP

Empower

In a world where technology touches almost every aspect of our daily lives, the platforms and processes we choose for our UCI community can either hinder or embolden – allowing for students, faculty & staff to be empowered and engaged.

Reimagining The Student Journey

Student Guided from the Start

Upgrades to various systems students use to interact with the University will ensure less time is spent on administrative tasks, leaving more time for quality educational experiences. OIT will streamline the registration process (CourseLeaf), cashiering systems (Transact), and enrollment tracking system. The GradAid system, Statement of Legal Residency (SLR) application, and the 1-20 visa process for international students will also be upgraded and simplified.

Informed Campus Experience

A new student success dashboard will provide students with their own first-in-the-UC analytics dashboard that provides non-judgemental insights into how their campus activity, including learning behaviors, assignment outcomes, and other forms of engagement, compare to those of their peers.

Virtual Computer Labs

Expansion of virtual computing capabilities will enable remote access into physical labs, giving learners the flexibility to access software in computer labs outside of typical hours (nights, holidays, weekends, etc).

Tech-Powered Community

A new residential management tool, StarRez, allows students to select roommates based on their own criteria such as gender identity or other personal factors, allowing students more control over their living environment.

Flexible Learning

Our refresh of the Anteater Learning Pavilion will support the campus model for active and hybrid learning. Campus technology will integrate audience response features and enable Zoom capabilities.

Dynamic Flexibility for Staff

Work Reimagined

UCI staff work hard both on and off campus. With a significant population of our staff working hybrid or fully-remote, OIT supports Anteater staff through flexible technology solutions. Through OneDrive, all folders and department files are shared electronically through the cloud, eliminating the need to transport physical files. Teams Phone service will replace legacy phone systems, allowing for mobile, cost-effective phones that support flexible work arrangements. Training and outreach will accelerate the adoption of digital document management tools such as Docusign and FileNet—secure ways to sign and store documents. And booking flex space on campus will become easier than ever through an upgrade to our facilities management platform.
